Hello Again everyone-
Oh what a busy week it has been. I have finally finished my multimedia presentation. I feel like I spent a zillion hours working on it, but I feel much accomplishment now that it is finished. For the really tech savy person, it probably would have taken an hour or so, but for me this was a challenge and a fulfilling journey. I learned so much about so many related issues to recording sound and video, different software pakages that are available for free and for a fee. Some of them I like, and some I didn't like. Some were easy to use and some , well ...lets not go there. Anyhow, much was gained from the experience. The problem I have now is, my kids were looking over my shoulders on many of the days that I was working and now they want to have their own wiki, and their own blog, and their own videos on youtube, and skype every friend they have. My kids are turning into tech monsters!! Fact is, they are better at it than I am!! Now I need another 20 hours in the day to keep up with them.
Drop me a line and let me know how things are going for you.
Deb

Mine is only 15 months, and I often feel like that. I spent most of the last three days figuring out Visual Basic. I am on the computer a lot normally, but the programming meant a lot more rigid focus than normal. My son has a little keyboard for learning colours and instruments and such which runs a program to show corresponding things. Normally, he just bangs on it and has lots of fun. Today, he would push one or two buttons and then sit back and ponder it very carefully before pushing the next button and then suddenly lunge forward and hit a new key. I was hilarious because that is exactly what I do programming where I think for forever and then something suddenly hits me and I type frantically for a minute and then sit back again. He'll be using and writing this stuff before I know it.
Anyway, I think it is exciting that your kids are excited to use these tools. So, good job to you "mom" even if it does make your life more hective
Ahhh can I say I am relieved to be childless at home? Its coming sooner for me than I think though, because everyday that passes I get a little bit older.
I am almost done with my presentation. I am just debating whether to do a voiceover on it, or just post it the way it is. Haven't decided yet, but I think time will decide that for me.
I hear what you are saying about the children being tech savy by watching us. My daughter used Swish flash and I used it in my multimedia design. Yesterday she made a movie with her friend using still shots of legos. What ever happened to riding your bike around the street?
Hi Everyone,
Congrats Deb on finishing your project so soon. I'm way behind.
I understand about the kids being tech monsters. My high school sons are always texting and using facebook with all of their friends. They go out on dates with girls that they know from their school through facebook all the time. It's such as great social site for them.
Deb-
After reading your post, I'm also very glad to be in a childless home. ;-) I really appreciate the silence at home after a full day with high school students. I only have to deal with kitties try to get between me and my computer screen and sitting on my paperwork. This week should be an interesting one with seeing everyone multimedia presentations.
Congratualations on finishing your project! I was doing well and then got behind on mine, so I need to really crank it out this week.
Hi Pamela-
It will be an exciting week having the chance to see all of the multimedia presentations. I am also looking forward to it.
I finished my work and took my kids to Manhattan for the Day Saturday and Philadelphia on Sunday.
Gotta love the kiddies, they keep me hopping.
Hi Don-
My kids are not at the dating stage yet. I guess I have that to look forward to.
Sarah-
I have to get your daughter to teach me how to use Swish. I'm just starting to play with that one.
I agree that the sense of accomplishment in the finished project is very rewarding--it's part of why we do this. We have spent many hours away from family and other activities in the process. I find that we, as a group, are rather critical and incredulous with other educators who lag behind, chosing not to spend their personal hours this way. It is a major challenge in the big picture of integration....what do you think?
